Dear Collective,
I started recording for my compostion over the past weekend. Using a condenser mic and an m-audio interface, i recorded some of the construction sounds coming out of Lee Hall. I got a pretty awesome buzz/drone (it actually changed pitch during the recording so that is handy) on one side, and on the other I picked up a really low rumble. Unfortunately I also picked up a lot of wind on the monroe side. So it might be hard picking out good samples. After walking around for two hours, without finding anything I decided to call it quits for a while. Later on, i ended up going down town and I recorded a cash register at the wounded bookstore (thanks to Tyler Babbie). I think it will make good rhythmic material. It turns out that ill be going home this weekend, so I should be able to get a lot of work done. I plan on doing some recording in the woods, and in the stream by my house. oh man! i can get some power tool samples.
